Mac's road to Louisville IM 2015
Hi Coach Rich....I am sure you are busy with Kona etc., but when you have time pls give me your plan for going forward. Having just finished my 1st 70.3 in Augusta this past weekend that was about 20 min. slower than I had planned. As a new member, 2 mo., I was not able to use your plans so was on my own. I lost about 6 wks of training due to a GI problem which is much better. I am 71 yrs young..6' and 140 lbs in good shape, no meds or big health issues [knock on wood]! I have been a runners of 35 yrs, did Boston 2013 & 2014 but will pass this yr as it is so hard on my body to train for that distance as a race. I could not swim 25 m 1 1/2 yrs ago and can now swim up to 45 to 50 min in our lake with no problem but in a race I forget everything and end up on my back too much! My Augusta swim was awful....slowest in my AG....42 min. & I had planned 30. Bike was not too bad...I had planned 3 hr and was 3:11. My run was bad as I had planned 2:10 and was about 2:31 with cramps in both calves and right hamstring. First time ever to have cramps on a run! My time was about 6:31 and I had hoped to be around 6:00-6:10, but even with my problems I got 2nd in my AG. My wife said I should be happy but you know I wanted 1st!! Anyhow, my A race for 2015 is Louisville IM. and my goal is to take 1st in my AG and get to Kona for 2016. I hope you can help me get there. I plan on a few run races to finish 2014 and a few tri's in 2015 and perhaps a 70.3 two or three months before Louisville. Will look forward to your input for me......good training and have a great day.
