Lava Pants Deal (sub $90 bucks!)
Just off the phone with my rep, Jay, at Xterra re some Kona business and he asked me if I wanted to offer a Lava Pants deal to the Team. Off the record, off the web, save a ton. I said YES, especially as I know how many of you who get cold in the pool enjoy swimming in them.
If you have the pants, would love you to put some feedback in this thread.
If you want the deal, you have to email Jay at Xterra and CC us so we know it's on the up and up. You can use admin@endurancenation.us. You can contact Jay via this email: jay@xterrawetsuits.com
Thanks for supporting our sponsors!

For sizing I'm 6'0", 165-170 lbs., 31-32" waist, nearly 34" inseam, muscular quads. I wear a medium and the fit is great.
@Bob - as someone who struggles with body position in the water - hips low, legs drag - do you think that these would be helpful or make my problem worse by relying on the artificial lift? I swim much fast with a wetsuit on because of this and as I got closer to my 'A' race this past season, I started using a pull buoy to simulate the lift. So, in your opinion, helpful or hinderence for someone Aqua challenged like me?
I've been using the Lava Pants for about a year and they have been really great for me. Background - I've been running for almost 40 years and started triathlon about 10 years ago. I have always had poor position in the pool because of my "runners legs" that sink. I've had private lessons with a well regarded coach who said up front (my catch) looked pretty good but there "might not be anything more we can do about the legs".
The Lava Pants immediately increased my speed by 15-20 sec. per 100 although I have no illusions about where it came from. What they did do was allow me to swim much more quality yardage per workout (3 x 3500-4000 vs 3 x 2200-3000 per week) and finish the workouts much stronger. Without them I would be much more tired from dragging my legs around and the times of my later intervals would really slow down. I think I'm probably 5 or 6 min faster for an IM swim but feel much stronger coming out of the water from the extra yardage. The other thing they did was make swimming much more fun for me which is huge. Instead of dreading it I now really look forward to it and enjoy it.
Highly recommend them specially with this deal!
As one ST poster noted, these pants are nothing but a pull buoy that you wear. I might add that a pull buoy costs a lot less. I don't see wetsuit pants as a training device at all, but it might be an option when conditions are marginally wetsuit legal and the swim leg is 1/2 mile or less. If you can get out of these fast then it would be a potential replacement for a wetsuit. However, I use a shorty for those conditions (no arms and only goes to the knees). Since the lava pants go below the knees I'm betting I can get out of my shorty faster.
I have both. I prefer the Lava Pants with the lower waist line and slicker inner fabric for easier on/off. I leave the DeSoto @ my second home for less frequent use.
Thanks Al.
I just emailed off for 2 pairs. Merry christmas husband. HEEEHEEE
I just received an automatic email saying he is in Kona till Monday the 13th and will answer all emails as soon as he can.
Heads up, though. If you are able to use govx.com, there is a pretty good deal on Lava Pants there. So good, in fact, that Jay suggested I purchase them via GovX.... That scored points in my book.
If you can get in to Govx it's about 78.00 with shipping. Not a bad deal.
