Karen W's macro questions

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the season training plan.  Now that I've listened to your trial-week webcast, I have some questions about the races I put on my plan.  My real goal is to do Ironman Tahoe, and to do better than I did in 2013.  Any other races I put on the schedule are lower priority, and I'm willing to remove or replace.  I understand that doing a marathon may not be a great choice for my training, so I don't want that the compromise my other training.  Also, I put the 2 1/2-ironman races (Vineman and Donner) as 'practice races', so I'm not sure whether those belong there or not, or if they're the best choices.  I'd like to get as much focused Ironman training as possible, and maybe a run-focus or bike-focus plan as well.

If I take Catalina Marathon out of the picture, how would that change the overall plan?

What do you recommend in terms of other races, in preparation for an Ironman?  Are 1/2-IM's a good choice, and if so, at what point in the season?

Thanks,

Karen

Highly recommend you do not do Catalina. HIM's are fine, as long as you they are scheduled no closer than about 6-7wks out from your Ironman. That said, we recommend you race a HIM as a HIM, not use it as an IM race rehearsal (RR). We have specific RR's scheduled in your plan.

If you want to remove / make changes to the races in your schedule, please edit your TSR here and I'll redo this for you.
