I am signed up for IMMaryland. I want to do another IM earlier in the season. CDA or TX are the choices. Texas is much easier travel and smaller time change, and has extra Kona slots. The concern about Texas is its early date and the heat. Given the difficulty of getting in outdoor riding time by mid-May and likely heat issues in Houston at that time of year, can someone from the northeast (northern New Jersey) compete effectively at that race? Effectively complete it, yes. But I'm not a fan of NE athletes racing IMTX for the reasons you described. IMCDA is the better choice, in my experience, with an early May HIM in route, if you can swing it.
That said, travel, $$$ and other considerations are just as important but only you can answer those.

Well, I worked with the date that you gave me in your survey, I didn't catch that the date was wrong. Do this:
