Cross Bike/Road Bike

I came across a  2010 Jamis Nova Pro that has a cross wheel set and road wheel set.  This would be a second bike for me, not a primary.  I like the thought of the cross as we have a few off road tri's here in the winter that I would be able to do with this bike.  I'm also strongly considering the T.o.C with Coach R.  Anyone have any idea on the suitability of this bike as far a road bike goes?

Here's the bike:

Like new/Excellent condition, Jamis Nova Pro Road/Cyclocross bike, with 58cm frame (typically good for a male approximately 5' 9" to 6' 3" tall).

Bike has been well taken care of and not ridden too much. numerous UPGRADES: Mavic Aksium Road wheel set. Adamo Saddle. FSA Gossamer Bottom Bracket and 50/34 crank, new Lizard Skin bar tape, new Shimano cassette and chain, and Speedplay pedals.

Also comes with EXTRAS: cyclocross Alex AKX R2.0 wheel set (with tires- separate picture). Axis safety lights, Cateye computer with heart rate monitor, new Garneau high end helmet, saddle bag, and carbon water bottle holders. Will even add in Garneau road bike shoes... size 12/12.5.

Bike also features carbon upper rear triangle, 105 Shimano derailleurs & shifters, and Tektro Oryx brakes. Great bike!

Please email if at all interested.

  • The Nova Pro is primarily built as a cross bike.   So cables run along the top tube instead of underneath to make shouldering the bike easier, the bottom bracket sits a little higher for better clearance and the geometry makes for more of an upright setup than a typical road only race machine.

Having said that I would look at what kind of riding you will be doing.  Are you going to try 'cross or use it on gravel/trail riding?  If not then the second set of wheels is not buying all that much nor the cross spec. of the frame.  If you are going to be using it for road only there are probably other deals out there that are road bikes only and will be a more comfortable ride over long distances.

I would, however, at least do a test ride and see how it feels/fits.  It's not a bad deal for a complete bike if you plan to use it with all the extras.   For reference here is the book value on that model:   http://www.bicyclebluebook.com/searchlistingdetail.aspx?id=19593

  • Thanks Attila!  I want to do more road riding than cyclocross.  I think I'm going to pass on this deal and look for something else.
