Pat's Micro for this Weekend

I'm in week 15 of the intermediate Marathon program.  This weekend is scheduled for a 16 miler and then a stride run on Sunday.

A friend, David Wonn of EN, is riding his RR2 this weekend before IMAZ.  I told him I would join him for one of two 54-mile laps, probably the second.  I'm thinking of riding on his course just to keep an eye on him, but since I have not been on the bike much since Boulder I don't expect to stick with him the entire way...we will see.

What do you think about fitting together this weekend in light of the week 15 schedule.  My first thought is that I'm 2 months off from the A race.  But depending on how I feel on Sunday I might be up to some (maybe a lot) of the 16-miler.

Your thoughts appreciated.

  • In light of the weekend, I would make sure that Friday is off so you're not entering the back to back days with extra fatigue.

    Ride well with David, because that's what good people do. But if he starts to hammer on you I would politely excuse yourself.

    As long as you fuel the ride properly, and don't overdo it, you should be fine for Sunday as planned. If for some reason you find that you have overachieved on Saturday, you can always cut Sunday back a little bit either by reducing the closing effort / interval of the run or by cutting the mileage back a little bit.
