Jim Hansen is tall

So I posted on Twitter that I was going to be at a local Michigan mountain bike race (pitching embrocation, not racing). Jim Hansen responds with "I'll be in the area, I'll stop by"

Sure enough I'm at the race yesterday with 600+ mountain bike riders, when I see this 9 foot dude on a tri-bike roll up. Ok the Team EN kit gave him away a little too. Anyhow it was cool to chat for a little bit and actually remove the "virtual" from the community we have here. Stuff like this makes be happy to be involved with EN.

ROTFLMAO- One of my favortie quotes from one of my favorite movies!!!

And entirely true in this case!

  • wow. I think if I had Nemo standing on my shoulders he'd still be taller...

I wouldn't say anything to him about it.

  • Paul Jim and Babehis cervelo were so large, the tracks they made galivanting around Minnesota filled up and made the 10,000 lakes.

  • Once, the Halligan and the Hansen got together for a Two Man TT, the energy created caused an eruption producing a giant Ash cloud all over Europe. The UCI has since banned the H&H 2 Man TT.

  • Clearly he's been training too because I checked out his powertap and I saw some impressive numbers for a 2x20 FTP test

Equally impressive VDOT. Lookout or him at IMWI this year. Oh, and he can swim too.

Too Funny!  Do we need a H2 (Halligan/Hansen) vs R&M (Rich and Mancona) TTT showdown at IMoo camp?

  • Woah...first of all, don't insult the Halligan by comparing my weak-as-a-kitten stature and abilties to his domineering physique and unmatched power.  I'm sorry for that Dave - you're in a league of your own that I can only dream of reaching someday - I'm not worthy.

Second...yes, I've been known to stand out in the sport of triathlon at times.  Like last year upon finishing the bike leg of an aqua-bike at Racine 70.3, I threw my bike down, ripped off my cycling shoes and ran through the finish with aero helmet still on.  Needless to say, the spectators were screaming at me that I forgot to take my helmet off and that I was crazy for attempting to run 13.1 miles in bare feet.  Most of these goofball moments were exhibited while sporting an EN kit - sorry RnP for bringing down the EN brand image!

Lastly, I blame the fact that I had just finished a 2 x 20 FTP test and in my daze I realized I was right down the road from meeting the infamous Soigneur/all-things-Euro/photog/doer-of-all-things-cool-with-your-fitness Socie.  In my 3 seasons with EN, he's been a unique and inspiring dude to follow so I was willing to stand out a little (OK...a lot) to shake hands with "The Legend".

Oh, BTW, I'm only 7'11" but the fluorescent yellow vest gives the illusion that I'm well over 8'.

  • This picture does nothing but elevate the EN brand image in my book!

  • that was definitely the best finish picture of the year last season

    OH

    MY

    GOD!!!

  • It was an AQUA BIKE! Hey, that move saved me 8/10ths of second.

Damn you, Sullivan! I forgot there was a picture of this.
  • I think I laughed for about 5 minutes after watching that. The best part was that they told us we had to cross the finish line so we all ditched our bikes in T2 and ran to the finish, but for the actual results they just used the timing mat at the entrance to t2 as our final time.
  • That's awesome! I think we need to make a poster out of it!
  • If I recall correctly, Jim "Stinkyhelmet" was 1st OA, Mancona was 2nd, and Jim was 4th. Quite the showing at the Racine Aquabike.

You were Getting It Done, Jim! No shame in that!

  • I am so tickled! laughing and giggling looking at that pic! big smile. thanks for sharing, I love it. m
  • Just shared that pic with DH. Had me laughing to tears! Thank you.
