IMCoz 2014 Week 8 - Are We There Yet?

Ok. Week 8 is under way. I kicked my week 8 off with 7hrs in the car for a 90min client meeting. Its ok I needed the rest after Austin.

Race went fine. It was super hot. I thought that I was having a bad day but it turned out that every one else was too. Best AG showing to date though at 61/275 who started.

Today is some easy trainer work and a little pool time. I have a big weekend planned and just want to make sure that I am back and ready to go hard by then.

  • Good job at the race Jimmy! I did a half IM in July, and the heat just about killed me. I know it will be warm in Cozumel, but I hope it's not scorching. Last time, it was actually pretty reasonable.

    I was supposed to swim today but lost my goggles and need to find my old ones, or get some new ones today. Instead of swimming, I'm going to hop on the trainer. Will get back in the pool tomorrow.

    Camp weekend was less than fun. Just glad I got it done.
  • swim day today. 40x100(10) with paddles and bouy. First 10 easy, next 25 fastest sustainable pace then 5 easy. Done.
  • 90min brick today. bike power numbers were a bit off and my brain didnt want me to suffer much. Might not be as recovered as I had hoped.
    Either way, I am taking a day off from work tomorrow for a 5hr bike / 40min run session.
  • I hear you. I got on the trainer on Tuesday and then got off the trainer 30 minutes in. My legs weren't having it. Did a short swim yesterday. Planning on running tonight. But I'm feeling crappy. I haven't been sleeping well for the past week. I'm pretty sure that is throwing me off.

    Have a great ride tomorrow. I have a similar session planned for Saturday.

    I skipped out Pf work yesterday and juggled things a bit so that I could get a long session in. 5hr ride them 40min run off the bike. Perfect weather. Did the first 2hrs on the trainer then get t outside for a while.
    The intensity was below race pace but man, that's just a long time to be on a bike. I've got 2 more of those planned before tbt takes my bike. I need em.
  • today was make up swim day. 400m warm up then 3 rounds of: 400m at oly effort, 400 at IM effort 400 easy. 10 sec between 400's, 1min rest between rounds.
    a few months ago a 4km swim set would have been too much for me. Really happy with the way my swim is progressing. I'm not a "good" swim me yet but I'm no longer a bad swimmer and that makes the rest of the day much easier.
  • 2hr run with 15x5(1) at goal pace+ Beautiful morning for a run.
  • Today was a beautiful day here too. Last week I ended up taking another recovery day because camp week basically killed me a bit. I ended up doing a 2 1/2 hour run on Friday, 3800m swim on Saturday, and then a long ride + 1 hour run today. My ride was supposed to be 5 hours, but it was a bit short because I apparently was a bit faster than I expected to be. The run I did super slow, the z1+30sec. Finally able to say everything felt right. Now if only garmin connect would cooperate so I can see my last few workouts...
