Jill Grube's Macro Thread

Hi Rich,

Thank you for creating my roadtrip.  I am ready to get started.  I skipped the 7 day trial and just joined...so I am an official member.  Since this is my first Ironman, I am struggling with creating a race schedule that will be benefit.  You mentioned not racing Chicago Olympic so close to IMMOO, what is your recommendation on what to race and when to race?

I look forward to working with you and the nation.

Take care

Jill

    Hey Jill,

Welcome aboard! Racing a half Ironman in early / mid June would be ideal. Not required by any means, but a half in that time frame would provide you with a lot of focus and accountability through the winter and spring, splitting your season into two halves: first half focused on this...half...and the second half focused on IMWI. If that's not possible, then fine to race anything before about Wk13 or 14 of that TSR screenshot I created for you.

  • Awesome!  A half is definitely doable in early/mid June.  Do you recommend sprints or olympics for race day practice?

    Thank you

    Jill

We have race rehearsals scheduled in all of our training plans, as well as detailed race execution guidance, which is what you'll rehearse during these rehearsals. No need to schedule races to practice for other races, if that makes sense. Race for the experience and fun of racing first vs a preparation activity for some future race.
