Newbie Help - Bike Trainer
This is my first OS and I have never used a bike trainer before. I have an inexpensive basic magnetic stand. My questions are:
1. How much pressure do I apply with the rollie thing to the back tire? I have a handle with a screw that moves it. (I have applied a trainer tire)
2. Do I switch gears to apply resistance or increase my cadence using only one gear to hit Zones 4 and 5?
I feel I need more resistance and I am in my highest gear. Any advice please. TY

Hi Nicky, I'm not sure what kind of trainer you have but I pump up my trainer tire to near max pressure and then turn the screw on the roller until it his the tire and then turn it a little more until it dents the tire a little. You will have to play with it some to find a pressure where the tire doesn't slip on the roller especially when you're doing higher intensity intervals.
Some trainers have resistance settings on them but if yours doesn't then you will have to add resistance by changing gears. Of you're in your highest gear and that isn't enough resistance then you will have to peddle faster. If you didn't have the roller against the tire hard enough that could have been the reason for the low resistance. Normally the resistance gets higher the faster you go.Good luck.
Nothing to add to Mark's advice. Perfect.
