Vo2 intervals
Hi Coach,
Today I did the Vo2 intervals and it seemed too easy. Now that I have reread the training plan I believe I may have used the wrong power goal. So should I be using zone 5 of my FTP or 100% of my Vo2 watts? If it is suppose to be my Vo2 watts then it will be much more challenging.
Thanks
Matt

Matt...I'm not the coach but opened your thread and I think I can help you. Coach P will correct me if I'm wrong.
VO2 max intervals are Z5. If you did the 5/10/20 FTP test, your VO2 is your average power (or normalized power...probably pretty close to the same) for the first 5 minute interval where you went "all out" for 5 minutes. So, if the set calls for 1'Z5 with 1' rest, then you do the 1' at your VO2 wattage....repeat after resting as many times as the plan says. First few are usually not too hard, but the last ones will become very hard.
For most people, if you're "balance" regarding your cycling strength, VO2 max will be 120% of your FTP.
Eg. FTP = 200, VO2 max usually 240W.
