Eva's Crazy Questions....

I'm now a new fully joined member and I have my roadmap and am getting ready to start loading my plans... My first plan you've recommended is the Post IM Transition to start today...  Question - next week I'm on a trip for 3 days Mon- Wed and won't be able to get any sessions in... I'm assuming since this is just a transition plan to keep me moving before the real work begins again December 1st I'll be ok missing a few workouts scheduled???

    Yep, totally fine. Welcome aboard!

  • Thanks!!  In the past I've been using Training Peaks to log and track my workouts.. Just to confirm I'm not missing something as I'm learning the site- there's not an area within my Plan for me to log my actual workout stats.... And it doesn't seem i can upload from here to Training Peaks...  Is that something you're looking at or do you recommend a different tool for tracking the workouts with? Hope you're having a great day!!

That's correct. We don't have a training log on the site. We made the decision a long time ago to be coaches and focus on coaching our athletes rather than always be chasing our tails to provide the team with our own training log, as we be constantly asked for this and that feature, or to push people towards one log or another.

People are all over the map with regards to what/how they like to log their workouts so we leave it up to them to decide. Lots of options out there.

  • I am also new to EN (1/2 week into it)!  Prior to this I was using a one on one coach and training peaks. I've been manually logging my wkouts into training peaks and downloading my garmin information.  This way I can still track my progression/time.
  • Same here. Works well for tracking. But, I just have to load the workouts each day (no premium subscription). I've tried Strava but have not taken the time to figure out how to download from multiple devices. I'm familiar with TP. So will probably just keep going with that one.

I thought there was a way to "copy" workouts on TP to make it easier. Can't seem to find that now.
  • I use TP and have for several years. I really like being able to go back and see what i've done in the past and compare it to what I'm doing now, in terms of training, and see how it affects the results.

I cut and paste the workouts from the EN training plan to TP. I usually do that a month at a time on an afternoon when I have some down time and I'm recovering from that last killer workout. You can copy workouts in TP. If you hold the mouse over a workout three little bars appear in the upper right corner. Click on those and the copy command will appear. Click on that and then you can paste it wherever you want.

  • I'm about to enter my Run Focus Beginner plan on Monday - YAAYYY!! But of course a couple of questions:

    1. Is there a pace adjustment for treadmill vs. road or is the 2% incline on the treadmill the adjustment?

    2. I've been run training with 10:1 walk/run intervals so far... I'm around 12 - 12+ min/mile so need to work on speed as I mentioned in my roadmap questionnaire...  Should I continue the run/walk or should I focus on building to a steady run during certain workouts?

    3. If running is my priority to improve on and my first race is Galveston on April 26th - would it make any sense to add  a 30km race at the end of March to my schedule? Or would that be too much given where I'm at?

Thanks so much and I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!!!

I'm about to enter my Run Focus Beginner plan on Monday - YAAYYY!! But of course a couple of questions:

    1. Is there a pace adjustment for treadmill vs. road or is the 2% incline on the treadmill the adjustment? 2% incline, or maybe post this in the General Discussion forum. Sorry, I'm in SoCal and don't speak treadmill

    2. I've been run training with 10:1 walk/run intervals so far... I'm around 12 - 12+ min/mile so need to work on speed as I mentioned in my roadmap questionnaire...  Should I continue the run/walk or should I focus on building to a steady run during certain workouts? Are you able to do the intervals prescribed in the Run Focus plan? If yes, then just follow that workout guidance.

    3. If running is my priority to improve on and my first race is Galveston on April 26th - would it make any sense to add  a 30km race at the end of March to my schedule? Or would that be too much given where I'm at? I'd rather you find a half marathon for / near the end of your OutSeason. That would be a better distance for you.

Thanks so much and I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!!! Thanks! 3 days motorcycling in Baja Mexico
