Greg Cross road map question

Rick - appreciate you taking the time to review my schedule and provide in-site to my road map based off the early season half and two full races in intend to conquer in 2015.

Wanted to discuss changing the course around your feedback?  I started the 14 week off-season plan today and would like to head down this route.  I have had a full week off from IMFL and feel 100% since the swim was canceled.

you have my going into a half IM program to get ready for the half in Charleston where I would prefer to go right into a full program to get ready for Jersey.  If my math is correct i can do 13 weeks on the off season and head straight into the advance full to prepare for Jersey?

Not looking to peak or feel 100% for the half but would like maybe 1 minor week of taper to help with results.

thoughts?

Welcome to the Team! My notes:

    • RicH not RicK
    • When you finish #x weeks of the OutSeason plan, you'll be much more fit than wks 1-8 of the IM plan assume you to be.
    • So HIM wks 12-18 are a better fit for the fitness you'll have at that point in the season.
    • ^This^ also (1) keeps your volume relatively low = intensity high = makes you faster, and (2) your head out of space where you think you're training for an Ironman. Are you absolutely 100% training for/as an HIM athlete until 4/6. Only then do you put on your point IM training hat and get yourself into that space.

The net is that about 95% of our IM athletes "only" do the last 12wks of the IM plan, because we have them in a mix of other plans beforehand. But while you're doing the OS and HIM plans, you absolutely are training for your Ironman, but you're doing so without putting your head in that space.

  • Makes alot of sense now for sure!  Really appreciate the help.
