A redo on my schedule

Hey Rich, I twisted my ankle at the beginning of Oct. and now just getting back to training. My running program as well as OS training has now been pushed back.   So my 1/2 marathon this weekend was kibauched, and now I am looking at doing one on Dec. 13 and Jan 18. What is your thoughts?

Getting healed up and back to running 100% takes priority over races on the calendar. That is, don't put a race on the calendar that creates an artificial date by which you need to have long run of length X in order to do Race Y. Just be smart. Sounds like the Dec 13 race might not be the best idea but Jan 18 may be doable? Again, be smart and let the ankle drive the train.

  • Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you on this. I have been playing catchup with a degree I am finishing. Anyway, I hear what your saying and if I cannot do the Dec. race, then so be it. Where should I be on my OS training? I know that I should be at week 4 but I am not there for the long dist. running. Also, I might have an in on Alcatraz and that may put a change in the whole plan. What say you?

Stay in OS wk4 and do the cycling as prescribed but you'll need to be smart/adjust the run workouts as you feel, given your injury. If you need help with modifying the week to week stuff, please hit up Patrick in the Micro forum.

If you decide to do Alcatraz, just submit a new TSR and I'll plan that out for you.

  • Hey Rich hope the holidays are treating you well and your not getting too much rain out their. I got some changes to my schedule and wanted to run them by ya. I have added some things along the way and it looks like a great season.

Jan: 3 Polar Bear Metric ride
    Feb: 7 1/2 marathon
    March: 7 1/2 marathon
April: 4 Tour de Lure (70mi)
May: 16 Beech Mountain Metric (62)
30 Over the Mountain Oly. tri
June: 7 Escape from Alcatraz tri
    14 Challenge Williamsburg 1/2 IM
July: 3 Police and Fire World Games Oly. tri
    11 Hot Doggett Century ride
25 Blood Sweat and Gears Century ride
Aug: 8 Tri Bandits Oly. tri
    Sept: 27 IM Choo

I did a 1/2 marathon this past weekend and did well. I held a 8:28 pace, but feel if I would have not gone out the night before for a holiday dinner then I could have been faster. My ankle seems strong and I am feeling real good. What do you think?

Please submit the triathlon stuff above to me via the Triathlon Season RoadMap survey, under the training tab above. I'll redo your TSR and while I do that I'll refer back to this post and add anything I think needs to be on your TSR. IE, the survey will only let you submit 5 races so just give the tris/important-ish tris. THanks.

  • Hey Rich, good morning. I just did the survey and only put on it the tris that are important. I did not put on the Police and Fire World Games in July mainly because its a fun race I want to do. All of the running and cycling races I would like to do to enhance my training so let me know if we can incorporate them as well.

  • Oh and I am strongly looking at IM Choo Camp!!!! Is it still available?

Oh and I am strongly looking at IM Choo Camp!!!! Is it still available?

Yes. I haven't even made up the registration stuff, etc, as my camps are much later than Patrick's. I'll start to hook that up next month.

  • Hey Rich, got my new plan and really stoked about getting into this year. Are you going to be up in SF during Alcatraz?

Nope, sorry. All of my summer travel is to IM's, camps, etc.
