Polo's Macro - 2015 Race Schedule

Coach Rich,
Change to my 2015 race schedule. Instead of Indian Creek TRI in June, I've registered for the Chattanooga 70.3 on May 17. So I need to amend my season roadmap.
Hope to get some experience in the New Orleans 70.3 that could be useful in Chattanooga. But the races are April 19 and May 17. So not much training time inbetween. Should New Orleans essentially be a tune-up?

Please submit a new TSR to me, with this change, and I'll plan it out formally for you.

  • Coach Rich, not sure if you know as I've only discussed with Coach Patrick, but I was in a bad bike crash requiring surgery that caused me to miss Chattanooga 70.3 and sidelined me for over a month - solid. I started back exercising on June 1 and think I'm back enough to start training, although I'm modifying my workouts with what I can do. Run has been set back about a minute and fifteen seconds at the same heart rate (wow). But its getting better. Bike seems to be coming back sooner.

I would have really liked to do that Choo 70.3 to put the lessons learned from IMNO 70.3 to the test. Time was great somehow, considering my nutrition was a train wreck (see my race report). Now I'm kinda lost as to what to do next. IMFL is on the schedule. So I could either to a sprint race August 22 in Florida to get experience with ocean swimming , or I could do a Toughman half-iron race in Alabama (not sure how these races are) on August 16, or I'm open to other suggestions (just not a lot of tris around Louisiana right now). Then I will send you a request to revise my season roadmap. I'm in the get faster plan at the moment. Thoughts? Should I sign up for a 15 minute call?

Sorry to hear about your crash!

No need to race an HIM if doing so would cause you to rush any recovery you have going on. Better to schedule a short course race, use the SC plan for that, then transition over to the IM plan.

Let me know if this helps.
