Looking for some advice tweaking work-outs with the last few weeks of the Half Marathon Training Plan.  currently starting week 10, hitting work-outs as prescribed, feeling good.  planning for long run this weekend.



Week 11 - planning to run a turkey trot on thanksgiving - probably 10K.  can run sat/sun/mon after the race.  how might you suggest I move around work-outs so this fits well into the week schedule.

Week 12 - unable to run tuesday due to work and other travel.  travel day is friday, race is sunday morning.

  • Hey David! I hope you are doing well! I think I'd take Wed off (or EZ spin) then race Thursday. Friday is OFF to recover, then the weekend as planned. I would move the Tuesday run from race week to your Monday (before you travel) so you can take Tuesday off with work/travel. Then you are back on plan with the Wednesday 6 miler,etc...good luck!

    Looking for advice on how / and or if / I should modify the last 2 weeks of the get faster plan.
    Currently finishing week 6 intermediate get faster. I am racing olympic distance at the end of week 8. Training is going well, not injured, planning to race the olympic, treating as A race for the beginning part of the season.
    Specifically - what should I do with the bike and run tests during week 8 - move to week 7? Ignore? Something else entirely?

  • David, I would ignore them entirely as the race will be a good venue for generating "final" numbers. I suggest you load up the final Short Course plan week as your taper!!! Good luck man, rip it up!
