BE the ball Macro Thread
Hello Coach Rich,
I have a question about my season road map. When I submitted my season survey I was just putting in some races that I thought might be good. I wanted to race the sprint in April because I have done it twice before and I felt like it would be a good start of the season race. Then I wanted to do an olympic distance race somewhere along the way to doing the Augusta 70.3. The sprint in April and Augusta 70.3 are my main races. I also added another Sprint just for kicks. So here are my questions:
1. The olympic race that I had thought about doing is not scheduled for this year and I cannot find any races in the July time frame. There is one scheduled for August 8th. Is that too close to the HIM/would it be better to focus on the HIM?
2. Should I even try to do an olympic race? I have done one before but it was more like a race rehearsal because I did it on my own. My thoughts were to do one in real race conditions and as an intermediate step to the HIM.
3. Do I need to try to do another sprint race while training for the HIM? (I am okay either way). This question is sort of connected to the first two because if I do not do an olympic should I schedule a sprint race?
4. Should I even be trying to do the HIM this year or should I make my end of season race an olympic event? I will probably just ignore you if you say I shouldn't but just wanted to know your honest opinion. I know that I can get in good enough shape to complete the HIM. I may not be fast but I will finish.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't over think it. If it (any race, any distance) sounds like fun, something you'd enjoy, go ahead and do it. Just update your TSR for me and I'll rework the plan. The only additional input I'd add is that it wouldn't be a great idea to race an Oly ~2wks out from an HIM. But other than that, just do what sounds like fun for you.
Need some help with my season road map. I submitted a request in the season road map as well. I am no longer doing the sprint race and the olympic I had planned is on July 30th. Right now I am in the Beginner Short Course and it looks like next week (week 18) is a race rehearsal week and then it goes into what looks like a taper for weeks 19 and 20. I really don't need the race rehearsal or the taper right now. I am thinking about just loading up the Beginner half plan for Augusta and working it from there. However, the race rehearsal in week 11 of the plan would fall in the week before the olympic race week. It would seem that if that week could match up with the olympic race it would be good. Just need some help rearranging around that. If you are good with going ahead with the beginner half plan then maybe Coach Patrick wpuld be the one to talk to about the specifics regarding those weeks. Just let me know. Thanks in advance.
