NOS Reboot

I have come to the hard decision that I just wasn't ready to start the OS in Nov. I was only hitting about 50% of my workouts and just didn't have that 'drive' that I had during the season. I think all the 'fun' races (Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, etc) did not give me that mental / physical break that I needed post IM, so I cut bait (mentally) on the NOS last week. I am pretty sure I will be ready to start Dec 1, should I just pick-up with week 2 and continue, essentially starting the NOS a month late, or should I have Rich re-plan my season?

  • I would definitely re-fill out the season plan survey so Rich can get back to you. I'm in the same boat, but for different reasons. His warning to me about a Dec. 1 OS start is that it's a function of how much the late December holidays will throw off your training schedule---consistency is key, which you already have a grasp on. Personally, I'm going to start today, but as you indicated--week 2. I'm ready to train, but I don't mentally have a test in me right now.
  • Week 2 start is fine; especially if you can be honest...or conservative...with what you think your paces are. Keep it small right now...it's not about great workouts every day, it's about working out every day...the greatness will come!
