Ultra Training

Since is such a small group, and we are all doing different races, I thought I'd just start a general training thread instead of weekly ones...

Wrapped up this week with 39 miles running (5 more than last week) , of which 26 miles were on trails .   Feels good to just run with no pace goals.  Did some rolling strides twice this week which were 10 x 30" (30") to get in a few minutes of speed work.  Feel pretty good but I am definitely feeling different parts of my body/feet from running on trails....  Swam 5200yds all very easy and Biked 80 miles with a few very short hard efforts.

  • I am back on the horse after my Powerman Zofingen inflicted stress fractures and torn popliteus muscle. The last three weeks I've run...strike that...jogged...10 miles, 15 miles and 20 miles per week total. Going for 25 this week and will hold that level for 3 weeks before pushing up to 30 and so on. I'm not doing the OS this year either and just left the Bike Focus plan this week to take on the Spinervals 32 day challenge which seems to be like a triple Bike Focusify Plan! Might as well go for it while my running is still compromised. I didn't swim the past two winters because of shoulder injuries but I'm in the pool regularly now. Looking to push the envelope in Jan and Feb to get ready for an early season 70.3.
