Kim Eagle's Question about TRaining

I am trying to get everything set up and ready.  I tried to input the Pre Season Training Plan you listed..but was not sure what exactly that was on the Pull Down Bar?  Did I do it right?  I picked Pre Season Training Plan 4 weeks 2013?  This would be my first week on it, so do I skip to week 2?

Then on the 29th, I put in the 2014 Intermediate IM Plan?

I have a Century Ride (my first one ever) on April 25th and a Half Marathon (no big deal) on Jan. 25th.  Do I need to have that input somehow?

Lastly, I can run with a great Running Coach for a Marathon Training on Mon/Weds (speed/hill work) with long runs on Saturdays.  Should I still do this to keep my running on track with a marathon by TX IM day?  Or is it not the run plan you would want for me?  Typically we run 5-6 on Mon/Weds. with the increasing long runs on Saturdays.

Do I just swap around my work outs you list so that my runs are Mon/Wed/Sat with my bike: Tues/Thurs/Fri.  That is the schedule I need to do.  With swimming on Mon/Wed and/or Thursdays (Thursdays is a Masters session).

So sorry for all the questions. I am just excited to get started but confused image

Thank You,

Kim Eagle

I am trying to get everything set up and ready.  I tried to input the Pre Season Training Plan you listed..but was not sure what exactly that was on the Pull Down Bar?  Did I do it right?  I picked Pre Season Training Plan 4 weeks 2013? Yes, that's correct.  This would be my first week on it, so do I skip to week 2? Yes.

Then on the 29th, I put in the 2014 Intermediate IM Plan? Yes

I have a Century Ride (my first one ever) on April 25th and a Half Marathon (no big deal) on Jan. 25th.  Do I need to have that input somehow? Nope, those will just be training days, no need to account for them in your TSR.

Lastly, I can run with a great Running Coach for a Marathon Training on Mon/Weds (speed/hill work) with long runs on Saturdays.  Should I still do this to keep my running on track with a marathon by TX IM day?  No, please don't do this. You are training for an Ironman, not a marathon. The plan you're going to load up on Dec 29th has been used successfully by thousands of athletes to get them ready for an Ironman, so just follow that. More specifically, the marathon/run training that this local run coach will have you doing will not account for the additional cycling and swimming you're doing.

See above. You're training for an Ironman now, not a marathon. You need to work from an Ironman training schedule, not a marathon training schedule. If you want to discuss how to do "some" of your Ironman run training with this marathon running group, please have that discussion with Patrick in the Micro Forum. But, again, simply plugging a marathon training schedule into an Ironman training schedule is no bueno, especially if the marathon running coach has little to no experience with training Ironman athletes. With swimming on Mon/Wed and/or Thursdays (Thursdays is a Masters session). It's usually ok to just move our swims to whatever days work best for you, given pool hours, masters schedule, etc. That said, the long runs in our plans are scheduled for Thursdays. I can tell you that by about wk8 of the Ironman training plan, that Thurs long run and your Thurs masters swim session will begin to not play nicely with other. At that point the long run has priority we'll need to figure something else out for that swim. But that's another conversation for later.

So sorry for all the questions. I am just excited to get started but confused

    Thank You,

    Kim Eagle
