Alexa's Macro Thread

Hey Coach,

Hopefully I'm doing this right, but I wanted to reach out to you.

I've fallen off the bandwagon real bad (ended moving from NJ to CO, finally here now) and need some re-direction on how to clean things up and game plan for this year's season.

I dont have any race plans yet, my goal would be to pick up OS somewhere (was supposed to be in week 6 of 14 this week, but my activity level has been 0hrs since August). Long-term I'm planning on doing Ironman Canada in 2016.

Thoughts on how to get things rolling again?

Thanks,

Alexa

    Hey Alexa,

Sorry to hear about your friction. Let's do this:

    • This week, load up the PreSeason training plan, setting it to end 1/11. This will give you guidance for the next 3wks.
    • Then on Jan 5, load up the OutSeason training plan, setting it to end 4/12
    • Sometime in Jan or Feb...or whenever...reach out to me with your race schedule for 2015 and I'll plan out the rest of your year. Please submit it to me via the Triathlon Season Roadmap page under the Training tab above. Good luck!
  • Great, thank you. So far off to a good start now.

When I'm planning my race schedule about how many weeks after the end of OS should I plan my first race? Most likely I'd just do a sprint or Olympic to start things off.

    Thanks!

You could easily do a sprint or olympic within 4-6wks of finishing the OS, especially if you do the optional swimming that begins in Wk10
  • Hey Coach Rich,

I'm trying to finalize my races for 2015, but had a question.  Is a half marathon the weekend JOS ends too soon to do? I was looking at one for 4/12 that I liked the course for but I have other options for later in the month or early may.

also, i got sidetracked with some family stuff, and just realized i read your message above incorrectly. I did 4 weeks of pre-season and was just about to start JOS this monday, a week later than you originally wanted.  Should i just start week 1 on 1/12 and still end on 4/12 (so cut a week off the end) or should i start with week 2 on 1/12 (cutting a week from the front) and end on 4/12 as originally scheduled.

    sorry for the mixup.

    thanks.

    Hi Alexa,

Ending the OS with a half marathon is fine and I believe that Patrick has included HM-esque long run guidance in the '15 OS plans, so please look for that later in the plan.

Today, load up the plan to end on 4/12 so that this week = wk2. Then, if you like, you could do the tests from last week this week instead.

    Good luck!
