  • Hi I am Eric from the Milwaukee area (Mequon). My goal is to use Racine to prep for IM Wisconsin. I have some magic fairy dust when it comes to half iron all of them are within 2 min of finish time. Even with wide variation on the bikes and runs. Swim is always the same.

Looking forward to a great race day!
  • Hi Folks:

I am from Bloomingdale, IL and this will be my 4th Racine HIM. I like the race since it is nice and close to where I live, this year I will be racing in the 60-64 age group for the first time, my goal is to get somewhere below 6 hours.

See all of you in July.

  • Hi, all,
Niels inspired me to introduce myself. I am Cristi from south of Chicago - a little town called Channahon. First half-ironman but really just a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of IM Wisconsin. Heard Racine was a great race and really looking forward to it. Going to race with my 21 yo son. Of course, he will be way ahead of me but glad we are in this together. I am hoping my race preparation will be better then his and that might even us out just a bit! Any race pointers would be great! And hoping it isn't too hot that day!

    Looking forward to the race,
    Cristi
  • Here are a couple of pointers, 1. The water can be chilly, so go into the water before the start so it doesn't shock you. Also have some very cheap flip-flops the swim start is about 3/4 mile from transition 2. Set up your bike gearing in a very high gear so you can make it up the hill right out of transition. 3. Make sure your rear bottles are secure, there are rumble strips and regular bumps that will catapult your bottles for sure. Other than that arrive early on race day as parking is on streets and quite limited. The hills are rollers, and the run pretty flat with exception of one hill coming out of transition. I have enjoyed this race and look forward to seeing more ENers there.
  • This will be my first time racing Racine. I've done 2 HIM and 1 IM before. This will be a B race between IMCdA and IMWI. I've heard some negative things about the road conditions, but its close to home and the timing is good, so why not? Looking forward to meeting folks there, and I think a lot of us will be on the same Racine - IMWI trajectory. Good times ahead!
  • Thanks for the pointers, Niels! Really appreciate them.
