really struggled on the ride today. I think it's nutrition based. Going to eat better before and during the ride next week and I think that'll do it. onwards to next week!
Swapped the Saturday and Sunday Run/Bike around and did my Bike on Sunday. Doing the long run the day before most certainly added some extra fatigue in my legs and 10' into my first interval I had doubts creeping into my mind, but somehow gutted it out. I had a bit of an issue with my Garmin 500 dropping my PM signal which resulted in it registering ZERO a few time but that only lasted for a second at most. But, I would notice afterwards that it would affect my NP during that interval which got me to thinking about my last bike test. I remembered this happening on that day too (several times) and in retrospect, this may have affected my results on the test several weeks ago, which may be why I am able to hit almost all of my intervals lately. I don't know for certain, but this seems likely.
In any case, I had a midday business meeting yesterday and was just able to do the Zone 4 sets and no "sweet spot" extra work or additional run. Here is the breakdown as recorded on my garmin:
I shut the workouts down this week after fighting a low level crud for several weeks. The first bike I did was on Saturday and when I got to the first FTP interval I was shot after about 6 minutes so I stopped it at 7 minutes. I did a little recovery and then did 10X1'(1') at Vo2. I hit all of the intervals at a little higher than my Vo2 and then did 10 minutes at 0.82. The good thing was that I didn't cough during the workout or afterwards so the respiratory crud seems to be gone.
One of the things I noticed during my run workouts last week is that I didn't have any problems hitting my paces and intervals during those while I'm still struggling on the bike. So I started wondering about the differences between the two. I'm outside in cool weather on the run and on the bike I'm inside on a trainer in a warm room. I know that the trainer is more difficult mentally, but I've hit my numbers before on the bike and so now I'm wondering about the temperature. Tomorrow I'm going to open the window wider and put a window fan in to pump cold air into the room. I did that some last year, especially on the longer, harder bikes, but I haven't done it this year. Hopefully that and a recovering body will help get the bike mojo back.
As I mentioned previously, I backed off a bit for the Saturday ride and did the FTP segments in the ~96% region, which made a huge difference in "do-ability" compared to running my legs into the ground once again. Time ate the end of that wko, so I came back later and did another 45 minute segment with 25 minutes at 90%. Not ideal, but it worked out fine.

Do guys know how hard it is to be a work reading all your posts and not getting to play too! It sucks.
