Leah Yeager-Yeagermeister's Micro Thread

Hi Patrick-

Just found out that the local Tri team coach is conducting a group bike test this Sunday. It appears the parameters for the testing are quite similar. Since my Tri bike is still in storage from my recent move, I think it would help to have it done on a spin bike in a structured environment. Just wondering your thoughts on that and how I should move this week's training around if it's a go.

I only did core work today.

Thanks!

Leah

  • Hi Patrick-

Enjoying all this lovely snow?  And how about them Pats!

Anyway, just checking in since its been a while.

I am just starting Week 5 of JOS. Week's 1-3 went really well.  Week 4 not so well. The blizzard and travel (out and back trip), and 1-day of tummy flu, kind of got in the way of things.  I was able to do the strength training during the week, two bike sessions and my long run.

This past Sunday, I did the SAT bike workout followed by a 90-minute snowshoe run (about 6 miles total). That sure is a great workout!  Even though it was 17 degrees outside, we had no problem staying warm. I think with all this snow, most of my long runs will be on snowshoes for the near future.

I know I missed a week of solid training, but figured I'd put it behind me and start fresh with Week 5 unless you suggest otherwise.

    Thanks!

    Leah

  • Week 5 onwards!! Let's continue to make sure that you are recovered; we want to avoid the sickness stuff as much as possible!
  • Hi Patrick-

I think I have fallen off the JOS training wagon. I am in week 7 now, but my training for the past 2.5 weeks has been inconsistent due to travel (these are out and back trips for work), blizzards, and my local gym flooded (It's partially back open now, but cardio room is still not usable). I've done most of the spin sessions and strength exercises, but the running has been limited to once or twice a week at the most. No long run since my last post. I have a 10k and 13.1 in 10 days, and I am not even close to being ready to race either. I am ok with just enjoying those races and using them as training runs at this point. However, I am getting concerned with all the inconsistency and feel like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dam.

I also have two solid weeks of travel in March that will limit my training (except running) (March 1-6, and March 16-20).

Should I just continue to do the workouts when I can, then re-focus on HIM training in April? I have an HIM in late June.

  • Leah, can we talk this week? It might be way easier than trying to type this up. Give me a shout here: (617) 513-3830 Cell Phone.

Side note, just spent the week in Gunstock on ski vacation...super great time to be a skier vs a triathlete!!!! image
