Convenience Store Diet FTW!
Man loses 27 pounds in 10 weeks by eating mainly convenience store items like Twinkies on the premise that it's calorie deficit that matters most for weight loss. Not only that, his bad cholesterol went down, good cholesterol went up and triglycerides went down.

I'm surprised at the cholesterol data. But I'm NOT surprised by the weight loss. There are hundreds of diets out there. Some work for some people, but not for others, etc., etc. Lots of people lost weight with the Atkins diet, for example. Many of these diets work because they restrict certain foods, replaced by others. For the right person with the right taste buds, it will work.....because it creates a calorie deficit for that individual. That is IT. If I went on a broccoli diet, eating only brocolli, one protein shake/day and a multivitamin, I can guarantee that I would lose some serious weight. I like broccoli, but I can only eat so much! This dude restricted his calories. He lost weight because he consumed less calories than he burned. Does NOT matter where those calories come from. (this is not to say that his health would not be adversely affected by this particular diet over time, or that he wouldn't feel lousy while eating crap all the time).
If you don't burn more than you consume, you will stay the same weight or gain weight...and vice versa. It's physics, law of conservation of energy, etc. It's analogous to expecting to get faster/stronger on the swim, bike or run without doing the work....Not gonna happen. This is why calorie tracking (loseit, myfitnesspal, etc.) works when used honestly and correctly.
Stepping off my soapbox now....
