Trying to navigate all the information, forums, wikis... hopefully I am going it right. I have a question about the Season Roadmap. My main goal is the October 1/2 ironman in Miami. All the other races should be in service of this one. Thinking about this, do the other two races I have make sense, should I add another, change the ones I have?
I am not going to do the 1/2 Ironman this coming 5/24
My AAA race is still the 1/2 Miami 1/2 Ironman in 10/25
Do we need to change my season roadman to reflect this?
One of the things I have found difficult is to jump from the outseason plan for example into the middle of the 2015 EN*Half training plan... the long sessions are significantly longer than what I was doing in the outseason. I like the idea of building week by week.. to avoid injuries.
During the year there are a few International distance triathlons in Miami. They are good fun, and was wondering if participating in any of them would be helpful in getting me ready to the 10/25 half?

Ok, thanks. Please submit these changes/additions to me via the Triathlon Season Roadmap tool, under the Training tab above, so I can plan this out for you more formally.
Hi Coach Thank you for the new season roadmap. One question, the amount of work looks much less than what I did in the OS or getting fast, since my goal this year is a very strong 1/2 and next year a fantastic Full Ironman, I was wondering if it makes sense to have the short distance training, or maybe have something that gets me more work. My concern is this, in high school I was a very strong 100 and 200 meters sprinter, I have a good speed still, but I struggle taking that speed for longer rides or runs. When I do the tests, or get the strava, garmin forecasts of long runs times based on my short runs they are always way much better than the real times.
I understand that first you get fast, then you get the endurance, my question is if there is a difference getting fast for a 1/2, than getting fast for an Olympic?

My notes for you:
You're more fit right now than the early weeks of the HIM plan assume you to be, so that plan isn't a good fit for you right now.
You've got a great deal of separation between your July Oly and your late season HIM. There's just no reason for you to have that "build HIM endurance" hat on right now.
Triathlon is all endurance, pretty much regardless of the distance you're training for. But fast at short distance is fast at longer distance, and the 12wks of HIM training I have scheduled for you is more than enough to put endurance on top of the #xx weeks of short course style training I have you doing.
That said, very valuable, for all of us, to have a regular 2-3hr long ride and ~1:20-35 long run. So you're fine to modify the SC plan to give you those distances every week. Just tack on Z2-3 riding onto the schedule long ride and Z1-2 running onto the scheduled long run.
I would like to start planning my next three years.
I have two basic goals. One is to classify and participate in a full IronMan in Kona, and second to get a medal (not the participant ones :-) ) at my age group in one 1/2 IronMan in the next three years.
Living in Miami, I have basically the whole year to train. So the main consideration for me are what should be my A races for the next years that first, serve my two main objectives, second, minimize logistic costs and third, that some match the races that EN directly participates.
My guess is to concentrate next year on 1/2 distance... improve speed and see if 2017 may be the year for Kona or 2018.
How should I think about 2016? May St Croix and a Nov Texas?
Hi Coach, I upload a week ago my info in the Triathlon Season Roadmap tool. I know I am not exactly the November cohort, nor the January. I did my 1/2 Ironman end of October and then a Gran Fondo in Miami in November.. have been training ok during all November and ready to get start the OS 2016. Also, at the beginning of the year there are a couple of Olympic Triathlons I put in the tool... please feel free to prioritize any of those Olympic so that I can reach my form pick in December for the 1/2 Ironman in Cartagena, Colombia
Hi Coach, Just saw the new season plan you put in. THANKS! Question, for the first part of the year I don't see any period where I am concentrating on getting fast, and now with the new approach of the OS part not sure I will get any of that in the first semester. I am completely flexible in terms of races next year.. the only one I would really like to do well is the 1/2 Ironman in December.
So, wouldn't it be better to have me in GET FASTER in December.. start with the group the OS in January?
Any recommendations on the races in the first semester? What should I drop? Include?
I like very much the second half with the get faster then short course and finally EN Half

...ok...but the TSR you submitted to me had you in Wk6 of the OS so that's what I went with. If you prefer you could
do the GF plan until 1/3
Load up the OS plan to end on 4/10
Bike Focus plan to end on 5/15
1 week of transition
GF plan to end on 7/10
Your races/events in the first half of the year are fine.
Hi Coach at the end I am not going to do the NY grand fondo. with that change I update my season in the tool. can you take a look a suggest the appropriate training? Thanks AD
