Alison Miller Macro Question/Mighty Mac
Coach Rich - I have a big decision to make. I am doing IM Maryland - Oct. 3. Training is going well. I also just received notice that I have been invited (I actually applied, was listed as an alternate, and now I'm on the team if I want it) to swim on the Mighty Mac Swim Team - a small group of swimmers that will swim the Straits of Mackinaw over Labor Day weekend. The Straits are the confluence of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron - a terrifying and thrilling place to swim. This is the only time a person can swim across the straits and it's an amazing opportunity. It's scheduled for Sept. 7. And it's 3 miles. I want to do it but I need to finish IM strong. What do you think? Oh, and I'm a good swimmer. Not GREAT but good. And I have a local swim coach to help me here in Michigan. Chance of a lifetime but also a big commitment. I think I can do both and succeed but would like your input (and blessing).

Sounds like fun!
You're fine doing both. However, do your best to get in your long run and long ride that week.
