LR modification for volume camp week

Hey Coach P,

I just started Week 13 en route to Taupo in early March.  Been running 5-6 days/wk since June per the RDP.  Last week did 40 miles over 6 days, including 15mi (2:00) on Thursday per the plan.  This Thursday calls for the same - 2:00 (15mi).  Next Thursday is 2:15 (17mi). In between these two planned, long Thursday runs, I'll be attending a little volume camp in Clermont, where among things, we'll be running 15 miles next Monday.  That's a lot of long runs in 7 days for my joints, and I have zero interest in short-term glory of proving how much I can run in a week.  My singular focus is on March 7.

My initial thought was to cut back the Monday camp run to ~10 miles, keep the Thursday long runs as-is (but add rest as needed next week to accommodate camp fatigue), and otherwise continue on.  Unless . . . you think it's better to shorten the Thursday runs (one or both) and run the full 15 next Monday so as to maximize the (shelling) effects of camp? Or something else?

Thanks, as always.  Looking forward to catching up on Thursday.

Mike

  • Moot pint now but always cut it back -- the focus is on what we can do the end of this week, a bit more short term. We can adjust as needed...
