Trainerroad vs CycleOps Virtual Training

From the blogs I understand that there is a way to upload workouts that are 100% aligned to EN plans into Trainerroads. How does that work, does Trainerroad have an especific EN library?  Or do we need to upload workouts to the app?

I am asking because I have an account with CycleOps and there is a way to upload .ERG or .MRC workout is it.

Thanks

  • yes search in the wiki, a great thing, it has turned around my training what a great idea that was.
  • Andres, the workouts were built and are housed on the TrainerRoad website using their proprietary tools. IOW, we don't have a set of .ERG or .MRC workouts for you to use. There might be some Computrainer folks here on the Team who have created the workouts they'd be willing to share with you?

    Mike, thanks for the feedback!
  • Hi Coach, MIke, thanks for the answers. I will take take a look at the workouts house in TrainerRoad.
    Thanks!
  • I have the Cycleops Trainer with Power Cal...I download courses to ride. Still new at it though. I've only done a couple. Xmas gift. It's nice to not have to go to the Computrainer Studio as often. I have progressive resistance.

Do you ever go to the training studios here Andres? I try to go twice a month... really kicks the arse!

  • Hi Stephanie,
I have te KickR trainer that does simulations like Computrainer. I love it, it really has push me to a new level. Usually during the week I do my training in the KickR and during the weekends go out to Homestead.

Got a month in TrainerRoad and all the EN workouts are there, it really saves a lot of time, so although I still have a couple of months left in the CycleOps I will make the change.

The only part I was very surprise was that TrainerRoad doesn't automatically update places like Garmin Connect or Training Peaks, it is a simple functionality that make a big difference.
  • Thanks! I'll definitely look into Trainer Road. I hear you on things that aren't compatible with Garmin. I get a little tired of uploading things to different places. It would be nice if they would all play nicely with each other! I have a strava account, but I just don't see the point. I'm kind of stuck on garmin, garmin connect, and training peaks.

Who do you ride with in Homestead? I have done the EBC Homestead Speedway rides out there the last couple of years, but I would never go alone. I'm also a little slow to ask anyone to go with me. Would love to find a slower group 16ish that likes to go more than 30. I'm getting faster, it's just that I don't want to hold anyone back AND I don't want to be stuck out there alone with a flat!

  • There are two options I know. MackCycle and All4cycling. Both this stores organize during the weekends groups hat usually start in Coconut Groove and go to the south from there. They separate the groups by the average speed. They are good. If you haven't rode in a group it is important to learn the etiquete, signs, tips etc... before going in one. A simple search in the Internet will give plenty of resources.

I have a group that we go at an average of 24 mph. If my workout permits it I go with them, otherwise I train alone. You are welcome to join anytime
