Doug's OS question's

Hi,

Hopefully I am asking this in the correct forum.  I have a few questions about the training plan.  I started my Out-season training this week and as such I am supposed to do testing. I did the bike test, but I haven't been running for the past 3 months or so so I am afraid to do a 5k time trial with no base at all.  I feel like I should run for several sessions before I go for a time trial. I am supposed to do the run test today.  How should I handle that?

I would like to include strength training (2 days per week) and yoga (2 days per week) into my training plan.  Where would you suggest these be added?

An lastly, is it okay to swap around the training sessions?  I would like to be able to do my workouts with other people and there are specific days that the groups meet. ( ie masters swimming m,w,f, group bike rides are t,w,th,sa, yoga t,f runnning club m,th,sa. )  If the workouts can be swapped about I could make more group activities.

Thanks,

Doug

    Hi,

I am supposed to do the run test today.  How should I handle that? Skip the run test. Your second run test is scheduled for wk4...or wk8, I can't recall, so just do that when it shows up in your plan.

I would like to include strength training (2 days per week) and yoga (2 days per week) into my training plan.  Where would you suggest these be added? See the core and swim preparation stuff I've included in the plan on Mon and Fri. I suggest you do this vs going to a gym. Hopefully you can piggy back yoga on top of this, vs doing it as a separate session?

An lastly, is it okay to swap around the training sessions?  I would like to be able to do my workouts with other people and there are specific days that the groups meet. I suggest you create a thread in the Micro Forum to have this discussion with Patrick. That is, yes, this is usually doable, but the best method is for you and him to go back and forth to determine a good template training week that you both agree on, then go from there.

    Thanks,

    Doug
