rob's OS micro

coach P, Hopefully I catch you before the weekend.

I'm barely into the OS and I've already tweaked my hamstring. Felt great all week until yesterday. I did the VO2 bike workout and hit all goals without a problem. Came home after work and intended to do the EZ/z1 run plus strides but it was pretty cold outside for Va Beach (mid 30s, I know not as cold as Rhode Island). I decided to warm-up in the garage on my bike. An easy spin for 10'z1 followed by another 10'z2 and then off to run outside. I felt great and couldn't resist sliding into z2-z3 pace as it felt like z1 effort. However, at 3/4 mile my hamstring felt a little tight and then at mile 1.3 it popped. I stopped right away, iced overnight and popped a few aleve. It is definitely sore today while walking. Plan today is just core with cords which I will do later tonight. Planning just to do bike and skip runs. May need to enter the running jail for awhile....thoughts?

  • Rob, sorry to miss this -- next time I am away at camp, please feel free to text me -- (617) 513-3830 Cell Phone (EST Time).

YES to time off, and some light walking plus stretching. You might be able to spin easy, but if you can get to a PT for an eval and some hands on work it will help!

If you need to adjust to 4 bikes a week, that guidance is here: http://j.mp/1yBEEx3

    Please keep me posted!
  • Thanks Coach
I will stick to 4 bike plus core workout until I can get to PT.
  • Ok! Keep me posted!
  • Coach P - great talking to you today. I look forward to reading the links you said that you would be forwarding. Until then I'll keep to the bike portion of the OS plan along with the core workouts and swiming (along with my Hamstring physical therapy)
  • Deal! Everything sent earlier today...xt hanks for your patience and plse keep me posted!
  • Coach P, my hamstring is feeling great (Aqua runs/elliptical/PT exercises). I think I'm ready for your 8 week run re-integration plan. Since you said don't run 2 consecutive days, what days do you recommend I run for the Jan OS program? We start week 5 this week. Thanks
