I've seen the light!

So, I've owned a PT for a little under a year now and have almost read as much as I can absorb at this point about what to do with it.  Well, I wish I had gotten to EN earlier and read what they had to say first (even though it is in other texts, this is so much more user friendly) and did more rides like this.  Being a dumb ass most of the time, I tried to go out and ride rides hard so that I could download later and try to see if my IF was up, and TSS was up.  Stupid.  Finally, today, being one of the first days outside (by myself which mattered) and told myself that I was not going over my FTP anywhere in the ride until the last 5 or so miles.  It was hilly, one long one in the first 10 minutes, and then another really long one around 45'.  I may have been going 6mph a couple of times, but man, what a more consistent ride, faster flats, and I felt like I could really crush a run afterwards.  Happy.  I'll keep working at it.  Thanks to all with such sound advice and thanks to EN with such great resources.

  • 45' climb...ouch.

    Sorry, I got distracted.
  •  No, no, no!!! Sorry, I miss wrote, a climb at minute 45.  The longest climb was about 18-19 minutes.  Sorry, I'm not tough enough for that!

  • I love it when the lightbulb goes off in someones head! Great stuff!
  • Nice work! Wait until you race or ride with others and you can see how many watts people spend at a huge cost with no return. It will really boost your confidence and reaffirm your race plan.

  • Great work! Consistent rules!

  • Dan,

Being new to power is OS I hope that I have a least a 20 watt bulb go off when I get outside with power.  We had some good weather recently but I was sick.  Then I just had to ride my new bike once.

  • @Gordon: Yea, my power went up outside too, (I secretly pray for that too!) but so has the snowfall count in the past 2 days here.   WTF?  I woke up and there was snow on the ground!!!!!  I will be on my rollers until June!  Hope you have more luck where you live, keep that bike clean!
