How to import workout files from your Garmin watch to iPhone/iPad using ANT
Here are instructions on how I was able to import my workouts from my Garmin watch (910xt) to my iPad/iPhone through an ANT signal. I was able to push the file directly to Garmin Connect, Strava, Training Peaks, etc too.
I've been trying to make this work for some time now, and after some trial and error, it's working great. Why would you want to be able to do this? When I'm traveling or away from home and do not have access to my laptop, I like to be able to upload my workout data easily using an iPad or iPhone. Yes...I'm a bit type A!
I currently have: iPhone 5s and an iPad mini (not sure of model, but is 2-3 years old). BOTH have 8 pin receptacles.
You will need: Wahoo Fitness Key, and an 8pin to 30pin adapter (unless your iPhone/iPad is an older model that has a 30pin receptacle), download free Wahoo Fitness app from App Store.
* I'm unsure why Wahoo only makes their fitness key (dongle) with a 30pin since Apple doesn't use this anymore? I bought a very cheap aftermarket adapter online from China and it wouldn't work, so you may need to use the OEM version.
To upload data from your Garmin FR 60, FR 310XT, FR 610, and FR 910XT:
**Steps 2-4 are essential and instructions that I found online from DCR, etc didn't include this step which I found maddening.
***Also, if Wahoo Fitness app doesn't find the ANT fitness key, you may have to unplug it, close the app and restart it and THEN plug the fitness key in. I needed to do this.
1) Open the Wahoo Fitness app
2) Select Settings
3) Select My Details
4) Turn on the Show Garmin Watch Import by selecting the toggle switch
5) Back out to the main screen of the Wahoo Fitness app
6) Select History
7) Select Import from Garmin Watch
8) Once this is done, if your watch is in pairing mode, it will allow you to select the workout(s) you want to import. If it is not, the app will prompt you and walk you through how to put your watch in pairing mode.
After this, you should be good to go! I am also able to use Trainer Road on my iPad/iPhone with an ANT signal too which is an added bonus! Good luck!

I echo the need for a genuine 30-8 pin adapter.
Once the setup is done, i find the Wahoo Fitness App picks up the dongle reliably on both iPhone 5S and iPad 2.
Steps 6 - 7 are all that need done subsequently to load the workout into the App.
Then just a new Step 9) Press the Sharing icon in the topright of the new Workout, and press the icons for the cloud sites (ie Strava, Garmin Connect, Dropbox) you wish to upload the workout to.
The dongle also works for iMobileIntervals, to allow this app to talk directly to ANT+ devices (ie Powermeter, HR monitor).
Cheers,
Ian.
1. Do you have > 1 bike
2. Do you leave the bike hooked up to the kickr type trainer
3. Do you have a spouse/partner who also uses the kickr, I'm wondering about changing out wife's bike (different size frame/different rims than mine), would it shift okay, what about chain wear, etc.
4. At the moment we have the same cassette but if we were using different cassettes how would that work?
Anything else I should be aware of?
