Warm-ups vs. total time
I'm going to apologize in advance for asking this question because the answer is probably already somewhere on this website. I simply haven't taken enough time to really work the site yet.
Here's the question... when there's a designated time for a bike ride and it calls for 60 minutes, does that 60 minutes include the 25' warm-up or is it in addition to that time?
Thanks for your patience and for taking the time to answer!

That said, in some of the longer bike workouts that have 2x20 and 3x15 and some of the Saturday workouts with MS2 you will find that the minimum ride time exceed the total "advertised" time. In those cases I do all the work and end up with a longer ride. Some people cut short their warmup or maybe even skip part of MS2. Personally I don't do that, but that is just me.
+1. The received EN lore is that "RnP" are "poor at math" (they can;t be *that* bad, they've kept this business going strong for 8 years now!) Meaning, do all the warm-up you need to be comfortable during the intervals, and do all the intervals as written. If you have time left over you can add some steady state work; if you go over the stated time, well, you;re doing the right thing.
x3. I heard coach R one time say something to the effect of "we have to put a time on each workout, because type A triathlete types need to see a time"! All they really care about are the main set....the only ones they really care about the length are the long rides/runs (in HIM/IM build). I don't usually do the 25' bike workout, because I can get warm in 10-12' and would rather add some Z3 time to the tail end. Not sure if that makes a lick of difference 6 months from now though!
The times are there mostly to help you tell at a glance roughly how long the workout should take.....not to imply that that time is some magic number that you have to hit every time.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the input.
