Is it stupid to sign up for a sprint tri 2 weeks prior to the IM?
Yes, pretty much
Two weeks out is your final Race Rehearsal, your single most important workout you'll do. Do. Not. Miss. This. If you look at your TSR, I generally like to see people get their racing done before Wk14 of their IM plan. After that the weekends get exponentially more valuable and racing that much more costly, with regards to lost/compromised IM-specific training time.
Rich or Patrick...question about my BIG DAY PROTOCOL.
It says in one spot it's a 1 hour swim, 3 hour bike and 1 hour run. Then under it where it explains what the work out is for swim, bike run..it says the BIKE is 1.5 hours and the RUN is 45 min. Which should I do. I plan in swimming at 5:45am that morning and then heading out for outdoor ride a few hours later (that's the closest I can do it). But a 1.5 hour bike and a 3 hour bike are much different Please advise.

Should be a three hour bike. What training plan, week, and day is this in, specifically, so I can fix it?
OMG! RICH! Don't panic..but I am!!!! Thankfully I was messaging another for the TXIM group asking about this work out. After realizing mine said 3 hours and theirs said 4 hours..I went and checked my plan! I have been on the HALF INTERMEDIATE PLAN!!!!!! OMG! I am doing the FULL! I am up to 2.5 hours on the bike. The run and swim are no issue..I'm ahead there. But this weekend it says 4 hour bike! Do I just go for it? Or do you think I should do 3-3.5 hours so I don't die? I'm going to do it as an outdoor ride. I'm so pissed right now that I was on HALF. I don't know when that happened????
And this plan says 4 hours but then shows 210 minutes. So is it 4 hours or 3.5 (210 min?)

Question about the SWIMS. I only have 1 hour in our pool. I don't think I can swim more than 2600 tops in that amount of time. Am I supposed to be fitting these 3000+ days in 1 hour? And when I have the ability to do open water swims soon, do I still follow the work out? Not sure I could remember all that in my head? Or on open water days should I go for distance?
Swim in open water just for time....like 60-90 minutes...all about the time.
In the pool, if you only get an hour, then get in 2600...if you can, here are some alternate thoughts:
1) you could use a pull buoy for one swim session...that might make you faster and allow you to get in 3000 vs 2600.
2) you could add in another swim session in the week as an optional workout (like a Sunday PM)....I will often do that and get it done when the family gives me approval!
Will the trainings in the weeks to come encourage OPEN WATER swims...or should I just do open water when weather permits.
I got in 3000 in 1:07 last week. So if I do an early morning swim, they give us a little more time in the water which helps me get the extra in.
How about for biking. Should I mostly do all of these rides on the trainer? If I can get outside am I supposed to do all of these intervals on the road? I don't think I can remember it all for a road ride.

Do 4hrs. You'll be fine, no worries!
