nerves

Hi Coaches!  I am relatively new to events, but been training triathlon for decades....without realizing it.  I did my first olympic 2 years ago and first half last year.  4 of my training partners are going to IM Canada this year.  I would really love to join them, except for my confidence being somewhat new and the fact that we will be spending the last 2 weeks in June and first few days of July in Vancouver for womens' world cup (It is only about an hour from Whistler).  My questions are:

1.  Is two years of training sufficient to complete IM?  Last year I did a full IM training plan (reducing some of weekend brick times at the end) just to give myself confidence I could finish the half.

2.  Is it feasible to think I can train while on a family vaca during such critical training weeks?

Thank you so much!

  • Jen - if you want to do it, we can do it. It's totally mind over matter. You have experience and fitness...and training partners!!!!! The trifecta, it's perfect. We have to get you on a plan and yes we'll have to adjust for the World Cup but it can be done. Heck, we have someone on a mission in the middle of nowhere training for an IM!!!
  • Oh my gosh! OK, I also have 3 elementary school aged kids and work but..... I feel like this is the year to do it!
I began using one of your 2010 IM 12 week plans and trying to get in what I can for week 1/2. I was thinking of trying a half distance in Napa April 12 weekend.
I need to get a new heart monitor strap which I will order today and then I can get my testing done. I'll dig in this week.
    Thank you!!!
