  • I am racing Choo70.3. This will be my second 70.3. My first will be New Orleans this April, which I will use as a race rehearsal. I'm 44 (45-49 AG) and this is my third triathlon season. Been with EN since November.
  • Hey Gordon, so far looking like me and you.  I live in Alpharetta GA, so not far from Chatanooga.  This will be my B race leading up to IM Mont-Tremblant in August.  Currently in the 9th week of the HIM plan after completing the Nov OS.  Looking forward to sharing training notes with you and hopefully others who will be doing this race.

  • Reid, glad To know there will be another EN there. Doing the same plans. Nov OS (first one - wow, but better for it) and now in Wk 9 of HIM. Been pretty good so far with workouts, but the frequency and duration are bumping up hard against work and family. Seems like we are basically working out at the HIM distance. Should be well prepared to finish.
  • Yea, I was on business travel the last two weeks. Luckily found Lifetime Fitness nearby in both cities and got most of the runs and swims in, but bike is definitely a challenge during the week when traveling. IMMT will be my fifth IM, not an expert, but feel free to ask any questions you have and I can share my experience. Looks like a pretty exciting year for you with virgin attempts at both long course distances. Good luck.
  • Hello Reid and Gordon

This group must be new because I didn't see it several weeks ago. IM 70.3 Choo will be my 4th 70.3 and is a tune up for IMLP. IMLP will be my second IM. I did IMMT last year and Reid, you're going to love the venue. I'm in my second season with EN and just started swim camp this week. I'll jump into the Intermediate Plan on week 15. I live in Alexandria, VA and I'm 49 but will be in the 50-54 AG. I hope your training is going well and looking forward to May 17.
  • Derrek,

Glad to have you with us.  I grew up in the No VA area (Woodbridge) so familiar with the area.  I did IM LP back in 2006, great race venue as well.  Don't let the climbs scare you, good downhills on the back side.  When you jump in would like to share training results for the last 6 weeks.  I'm currently in week 13 of the HIM plan.

  • Derrek, glad you found the thread. Looks like I'm the newbee among the bunch. Will be good to hang around with you guys. I just booked a condo through VRBO. So I'm ready to go
  • Hi everyone - I missed seeing this group start.  Chatt 70.3 will be my first visit to Chattanooga, and my 5th HIM.  This race, and the training camp, are to familiarize myself with the area and the IM Choo course, which will be my first.  Looking forward to seeing you all there!

  • Thanks Gordon and good luck with New Orleans.
Reid, I used to live in Woodbridge...it has changed a lot just in the last 10 years since I moved.

Since I ran the NYC Marathon, I couldn't start the NOS and didn't want to wait for JOS so the coaches had me start Dec 1st. That's why my training plan is slightly off from others. I have yet to bike outside but hope to start next weekend.

    Welcome Mike!

    Derrek
  • Mike, welcome.  Looks like we have a nice group doing this race.  I'm currently in week 14 of the HIM INT plan.  Supposed to be doing my first RR this weekend, but taking a little vacation over Easter weekend to celebrate my wife and daughters birthdays at St Pete beach.  So doing a little R&R instead of RR.  I will be moving my RR to the following weekend at hope to do it on the Choo 70.3 course as I just live about a hour and a half from Chattanooga. Will share the course afterwards.

Hope all of your training is going well and you're staying healthy.

    Reid

  • @ Derreck - Thanks and congrats on NYC!

@ Reid - Thanks, I'm in week 14 of HIM beginner, and will be doing my RR this weekend.  I did my swim/run brick today at St. Pete Beach, perfect beach weather!  Should be a nice weekend for you and family.  Have fun on your RR and looking forward to hearing about the course.

  • Hi all - I will not be doing this race due to personal life stuff.  Best wishes to everyone and have a great race!

  • Mike, sorry you won't be joining us. Hope everything works out.

Reid and Derrek, I just input my information into the Choo70.3 Spreadsheet and didn't see you guys. The link should be in your training plan. It is for logistics, the lunch on Saturday, etc. I see two other EN members in the spreadsheet that are not on this forum - Eddie Carvallo and Mandy Midgett. So, it could be five of us.
  • @Gordon, thanks for the nudge.  I just entered my info in the spreadsheet.

  • Me too.  But my plans are tentative due to unknown family/friends coming to town.
