JOS 2015 WK 8: Test week...weight loss/core payoff?!?

Did work work??  I know my core work has improved my running and biking - if nothing else -  I know it's there. image

Good luck everyone!

  • Yes the work works, but I'm still a long way from looking like it.  Still hitting the gym with my brother and getting in 1 core EN workout in addition.

Had some eating off the plan this weekend with little to no exercise so first time the scale's gone in the wrong direction in some time, 236lb, which is +2.  I  can't complain as I'm down 13 lbs for the OS but with a little more focus I could have probably shaved 3-6 more lbs off my current weight.

My OS goal of 220 is still in sight but going to be difficult to hit.  I'll keep my head down and just keep losing as it all helps my w/kg.

  • I have to be honest. I've been a total slacker on the core work. I need to get myself motivated. It's stupid because it doesn't take that long and I'm a Personal Trainer, for God's sake! LOL I think I just want to get out of the gym when I'm done training people!
  • Week 6. I slept wrong or something saturday night. It hurt to run...so I hit some ben gay on the neck and did my sunday workout. It was tough to do planks or pushups yesterday. I feel much better today so I'll try again after my brick tonight.

  • Pretty much fell off the wagon this past weekend on the eating front. Gained a 1/2 lb or so. 8 straight weeks was a pretty good run though. Back on it again for the next 6 weeks. Love handles are almost gone.

Lower on my core numbers as I just wanted to get them done. Ran them through in straight sets in under 17 min.

On the tracking spreadsheet, it looks like a showdown between Shaker Brock and I. Feel free to come back and join us.

  • So glad to find this feed -- I've been focusing on core since December due to some major balance issues. I've been keeping up with you guys and had no idea! I'm down 2 lbs in 5 weeks. Started to do plank to push up this week... and learned the hard way about "packing" your shoulder. Ouch! Count me in from here on out.
  • Curse those Girl Scouts and their evil cookies . Both my family and my coworkers are having fun at my expense putting the cookies in front of me all while giggling. I'm up a pound this week and the core plan this week is suddenly really tough- single leg planks and side single leg planks are killers
  • Well if it makes you feel better, I just got your message while eating a brownie. stay strong... Unlike me. Good job on the side planks. Those are my nemesis.
  • Oh there was only minimal resistance on my part....then an entire sleeve of cookies disappeared. If we hadn't run out of milk, I surely would have finished the box.

  • Weight loss maintains its slow and steady downward trend. 188 this week which is a total of 7 lbs lost since the start of the OS. Happy with the progress and small life changes that are making it happen.

    Good luck everyone!
  • Week 6 no workouts...except the abs and strength. Head cold and a surprise trip out of town for spouse's work and I'm zero for the week. Half marathon tomorrow at the beach. I hope I can just have a nice jog and get it in. Better luck next week. I have a regulatory audit at work, which will make any painful workouts seem pleasant by comparison. Joy!

    update...no 13.1

So, still felt icky this morning... did a 5 mile jog instead. Left knee pain...sort of like the pain I got on mile 80 of my first century on Valentines Day. Wonder if I did something to it that needs more care... Hmmm. Anyway I feel better. It was a crappy run/walk/hobble but it was good to get SOMETHING done!

    170.9 lbs holding steady.

  • Back into the grind this week. Weigh in this morning at 169.9. Broke the 170 mark for the first time in 2 years.
  • Wow Phil! great job!
