Greetings Tribe! Welcome to the IM 70.3 Santa Cruz Sign In Thread! With heavy assistance from the EN Queen of all Media, Brenda it's  my pleasure to be our volunteer team captain this year.

Please use this thread to introduce yourself to your fellow teammates, telling us a little bit about you, your goals for the race, etc!

  • Thanks for being a race captain.  My name is Jim Yanoschik and I am from Murrieta, CA which is 1 hour north of San Diego.  I will be driving up and staying at the Santa Cruz Harbor RV park.  It will be my wife Brenda (non-racing) and our dogs.  I am 59 years old and have not been able to train consistently for the past couple of years because of injuries and business commitments.  I want to get back into training and try to take this year and do a couple of Half Ironman and see if my body can take another IM.  I am bringing some Stand Up Paddleboards to play in the bay.

  • Hi Jim- Welcome back! With yout experience, If you hit most of your training between now and the race, you should do well. Since this race was a late convert to the IM brand, we may have a small EN group. My wife and I were in San Diego for years, now in Granite Bay, outside of Sacramento.
    Welcome again and happy training!
  • Ahhh...Santa Cruz 70.3 (aka Big Kahuna). My first HIM way back in 2005.

I hope they still have the Kahuna statue out at the run turn around. Make sure to give it a touch as you go by, if they still do!
  • Hey Scott does it matter where you touch the Big Kahuna for better mojo?

    Yano, I won't judge!

  • I am coming into Santa Cruz on Friday and will be leaving Sunday after the race to drive back to Southern Cal. I probably will be bringing some inflatable Standup Paddleboards to play on Friday evening and Saturday. If anyone wants to try out SUPing e are staying in the Harbor RV park. I out to have lots of fun on this trip.
  • Jim-
Good luck out there this weekend. I'm racing in the EN kit, hopefully we see each other on course. No one else responded to the team thread so no team dinner or anything.

    Cheers.
