So....the honeymoon period is over, seems like IMFL a long way out, tough to focus. Weather stinks, indoor ok, but skipping workouts. Going on vacation for 8 days, which derails training more, questioning how to jump back in on March 16 with losing close to three weeks of quality training.

Considering that although EN plan is solid ( bike is going well, not volume, but intensity /HR, swimm seems good volume and intensity wise. ) I just might need to go into MM until closer to IMFL. I still want to do first time finisher , still want to wear the kit I ordered, but not sure if I'm getting a ROI on the $, just wonder if this is how others initially start. I see lots of what looks like super experienced techie kinda folks. Not people like me?
Forums ok, don't have tons of time to read them, and maybe I need a more accountability kinda thing. I don't know-thoughts?

  • Mary, this is totally your call. Most folks are doing 1, maybe 2 other races en route to IMFL. So the year starts with the OutSeason and then into a plan for those early races...this keeps us focused and building all year vs waking up early July and saying "Now I want to train" -- but without structure or flow or learning over the first 6 months of the year.

Can it be done that way? YES

    Do we recommend it? NO

Should you do something if it's not fun for you (aka your training with EN for FL right now?). PROBABLY NOT.

You need something to get you out of bed / work / meetings / stuff to workout. There needs to be motivation and drive. If that's not present in you right now, and you aren't getting the pull from IMFL or the push from EN, you simply might not be ready to start!

IF you do decide to go on MM, we'll be here...I promise!

Ps if you'd rather talk about this please give me a shout on my cell: (617) 513-3830 Cell Phone (EST Time)
