Hi gang, although I will not be on the ground for this race, I am working behind the scenes to set up a lunch for you. Jan, since you and Melissa have been to the event more than once can you recommend a location and time you think might work for the team? I will do the leg work on setting up. All the rest of you have to do is RSVP to the event sheet HERE, show up, eat, enjoy and take a picture.

    Thanks Brenda to get the ball rolling on this. Melissa and I will search for a place in or around Haines City. I am not sure yet if we will be able to make it there for a lunch. I am working on Saturday mornings at a new job, so haven't asked them yet for the day off. In any case, we will def be there in the afternoon and try to meet up for a group picture

    What Jan said. I'll probably do some a short last min run and ride at home before driving over Saturday for check-in. Right now I'm waiting for WTC to formalize whether they are going to set up a course preview day. My sources indicate it will probably be Saturday 28 March...e.g., they will set up the swim course for folks to do on their own, then groups will head out on the bike course with a picnic to follow. I intend to take advantage of it if they have it.

    Early dinner is a better idea, but I have no idea what's available in the Haines City metroplex!

    Early dinner on Saturday sounds good to Melissa and I as well. 5:30 pm? In the past we have always gone to dinner at Olive Garden in Winter Haven. It is across the street from the Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn( recommended hotels by Ironman). This is about 20 min from the start/finish/transition area, but there is nothing in Haines City. We are staying at the Holiday Inn, and in the past it has always seemed that it is only the athletes and their families staying there for that night. Same with Olive Garden, you may as well get all the competitors together and all go to dinner at Olive Garden, that is what it feels like.

    Earlier the better for me as I'm staying w/ family in Tampa and will plan to drop bike / check-in Saturday around 2pm.
    Olive garden works but if we could make it 4 or 4:30 would be even better.

    At end of day I'm n=1 so go with what makes the most sense for the crew!
