Mariah's Macro

Ok we know my story...

Raleigh 70.3 May 31st   Syracuse 70.3 June 21st     (either IMAZ, IMHawaii or NOTHING) Nov, Oct

5-6 Trainer Rides Post B2B 70.3 Injury. FTP is down lower than I ever started but I think I can continue to ride. All Im doing is swimming, cross training and now I think I can add back a cycling "plan" Since I am reluctant to add back running, I didn't know what plan you wanted me to load up. At this point, Im going to aqua bike EVERYTHING as all these races are already paid for. Obviously there might be a time when I feel I can lace up the shoes and see what happens, however, sometimes biking it still hurts so I am not ready for that.

I NEED to be back on a training schedule- I've locked in my nutrition to get back to my former weight, Im sleeping better than ever and my mental game is an on going battle but its stronger than most. I agree with you that no race is worth my health but I want to show up to at least IMRaleigh with a better bike fitness than last year.

HELP- Whatever plan I need to load up or whatever tough love I need to hear or lesson I need to learn, the student is ready to listen...

  • What are you able to do the bike, specifically? You mentioned pain but is it related to:

    • Time on the bike. Ie, doesn't hurt and then starts to hurt after time x
    • Intensity on the bike. IE, doesn't hurt when riding easy but starts to hurt as you ride harder, etc
    • Cadence. IE, feels better/worse within certain cadence ranges, etc.

Just trying to figure out what the parameters are when you say you're able to ride a bike. Thanks!

  • Higher intensity Higher Cadence- hurts
    Medium intensity high cadence- tolerable
Time in the saddle doesn't seem to matter- longest "ride" post injury has been almost 3 hours

    Does that help?
