First- thanks again for the quick phone chat. Just scheduling the call forced me to think through a few things in prep for our chat and really helped a lot.
Now let's see if we can work out the details!
Race Day is Saturday October 22. That means if I start up the training plan again, next week would be "Week 9" or "Final Race Prep Phase".
All of August & first week Sept (training weeks 9-13) are fine- no conflicts
Week 14 is "Run focus" week. It's also the week that I have a High School Reunion planned. I'll be driving to NJ on Friday- Reunion Saturday-Drive home Sunday. I should be able to run each of those days- but won't be able to bike.
Week 15 is "RR#1/Camp Week". Not a huge problem, and I can take Friday off from work to do the camp thing right here at home. BUT, it's also the weekend of the OBX Tri (Half Iron/Oly on Saturday, Sprint on Sunday) which means my primary (only) training routes will be part of the race course on Saturday. One option might be to ride 6 hrs Friday, do the Half (as Aqua Velo only) on Saturday & then just do another lap on the bike after the race, then ride as scheduled on Sunday. Thoughts?
Week 16 & 17 are fine- no conflicts.
Week 18 is the second RR weekend and this is where I have the conflict. My Sister is coming down that extended weekend to visit & take care of the cats while Joe and I head to the mountains for 3-4 days of hiking and camping. Should I move the RR to week 17? Maybe that's also too close the RR#1 in Week 15, but I can't really move that up a week either. Maybe just do one RR weekend on either week 16 or 17? Or move RR#1 up 2 weeks to Week 13 and do RR#2 in week 17?

Per the revenge protocol, you don't have to do all long rides this time around. I recommend you do Saturdays as planned but keep Sunday rides a bit shorter (2 hours?) and a bit higher in effort....maybe a short run off them if that works as well. Your call, but basically doing "the same" 12 weeks isn't the best use of your time.

Let's plan on you biking Tues / Thurs of that week, with Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun being run only days..so you get some moderate biking in.

I like the Friday long ride, Saturday RACE, then Sunday off. If you race it...doesn't have to be at race pace throughout! - you cram Sat and Sun into one, which fits better I think as this is the second time around through Race Prep. If you prefer Aqua Velo we can do it...

Let's do Week 17 for the RR (do normal week 17, but Week 18's Fri/Sat/Sun). Then in Week 18, normal week 18 until your trip. Sounds like the perfect mental break at a great time for you!
Thanks P! This is EXACTLY what I needed to get my head on strait and feel good about pulling the trigger. Did a 3 hour ride with friends today for fun and felt good & happy so I came home, talked about the schedule with Joe, and then hit the register button. Redemption here I come.
Coach P- one follow up question for the above revenge plan.
Putting the RR (Fri/Sat/Sun) in Week 17 bumps it right up against the RR Run on Thursday. That seems like a little much for one week. Option 1 is moving the run RR to Week 18 (before the hiking/mountain trip). Option 2 is adjusting week 17 to do the RR Run on Tuesday (the Swim only Wed). Which do you think works better (or is there another option I haven't thought of).
