Fuel plan - where to start

I am in search for a race nutrition plan.  I will be participating in my first IM distance event in Lake Placid and don't know if I can take the HIM knowledge and just double it or does it need to be supplemented with other things.  If other things, any suggestions on what to try?

I have a strong stomach on the bike - seems I can eat / drink just about anything I have tried without issue.  Not as true on the run.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Obviously nutrition can be very personal. The best place to start is the nutrition page in the wiki here: http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Nutrition+Central

I highly recommend the webinar with Jesse Kropelnicki. I watched it twice last year and will probably watch it again this year.
  • William,

Doug's pointed you to the EN information.  As mentioned it's personal but you will have lots of opportunity to practice the plan going in to IMLP.  In particular you will have two race rehearsals that you will want to take your nutrition regimen for a test.

I find that I can eat bars on the bike as well and it provides a change from an all liquid diet.  If you have issues in the run make sure that you switch over to more liquid in the back half of the bike and completely the last hour or two.

Read over the material and post any further questions.  I actually have to go through it again as well so a timely post for me as well.  See you in LP.
