Rachel's 2015 Macro
Hi Coach,
Right now my first tri of the season will be Coeur d'Alene. I know that weekends become increasingly important for training, but I'm toying with doing a sprint(ish) tri on May 16. The distances are 660 m swim, 16.8 mi bike, 4.2 mi run. I see benefits as something fun to do, dust off the racing cobwebs, and probably most important, have a cold water race swim as I'm nervous about water temps in CdA. That said, I realize a 660 m swim is quite different than being in ice water for 2.4 miles. This would fall 2 weeks after I do the Blue Ridge camp, and one week before I do my own "camp" weekend, so I will be getting volume in overall. Thoughts?

That's fine, racing is fun, just be sure to get your long run and long ride (one of them) that week. Back in the Day when I'd race stuff like this in route to an IM I'd finish the race and then run the run course backwards at an easy to steady pace, for the extra mileage as long as I was already kitted up.
Good luck!
