end of out season

Hi!  I am new to EN and I dropped into the Out Season about a month ago.  After about a week of training, I took a vacation so did very little as far as the plan (a couple of short runs).  My plan has my out season ending this week and it has me doing a half-marathon this Sunday.  I know I am not ready so I did not sign up.  I was hoping to do a half-marathon either April 18 or a 25k on May 9.  I am having a little trouble with my achilles and I'm afraid to overdo.  I was thinking I would just do another 5k run test.  What do you recommend?  As I mentioned, I am new to EN so I hope I have gone through the correct channels to get the answers I need.  Thanks

  • Therese, yes this is the right place. No need to do the 1/2 marathon, good call. I'd prefer the 5k test but want to make sure the basic training week isn't too much for you right now in terms of the run structure, etc.

That said, I looked at your Triathlon Season RoadMap™ (http://members.endurancenation.us/TrainingPlan/TriathlonSeasonRoadmap.aspx) and it says PRESEASON plan, not OUTSEASON.

Regardless, you are due to load the HIM plan starting this monday...I'd like you to keep the Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday runs...but drop all others for like two weeks, then we'll see how you feel!

    How does that sound?
