David Pettigrew – 2015 Macro Thread
Hi Coach Rich,
I will complete my short course plan in two weeks with a local sprint race and then transition to the HIM plan for Pacific Crest at the end of June. Is there a way for me to hack the HIM plan so I can really improve my bike? While my biking has improved over the last year, this is still my biggest weakness. I was thinking perhaps dial back the run and add a bike workout or some volume, perhaps as an unstructured group ride. My running is solid. Swim and bike not so much...
Thanks,
David

Your best option is to repeat the weekday interval session on Sunday, in place of the current Sunday ABP ride. That is, you'll be doing 2x interval sessions + 1x long ride. Within this guidance, bonus if you could add a 4th ride to your week as an ABP ride of about an hour or so. But this would be bonus. Repeating the interval ride is preferred.
Thanks Rich, I have been adding Z4 intervals to my Sunday rides when I can handle it and it is working out good.
I have another question. I have my week 11 big day planned for this coming Saturday. My family is doing a trip this weekend so that won't work. Is it ok to move this to week 12? Week 12 is a test week. I feel like my zones are ok at the moment. I am looking for any guidance you can give me on how to best proceed.
Thanks.
Yes, fine to move this to Wk12 and/or to skip the tests altogether if you feel your zones are good.
Thanks
