HR Zones

Hi coach Patrick. I apologize if this isn't the proper place to ask this. I am new to EN. I live in SW Florida. It is already getting into the mid to upper 80's and humidity is rising. Should I modify my HR training zones to account for the rise in my HR due to the heat/humidity vs. when I tested during cooler weather? Thanks for your help. I'll try to send some warmer weather your way. Amy Wray

  • Amy, great to have you here...welcome aboard. No such thing as a bad question!!!! I see you have only posted once, I hope it's because you are reading so much!!!! image

If you can run by pace, I'd rather you stick with that. If you don't have pace to use as a target, then you can dial the zones up a bit (5-7 beats?) to account for it.

The most important thing is to make sure you enter each workout hydrated and that you are prepared to carry / access fluids along the way. Some folks also like to break up the Z4 work...so instead of 3 x 1 mile, they might do 6 x 1/2 mile so their HR doesn't blow up!

    Hope that helps!
