stress fracture

With 3 weeks to go and training on schedule i cut my 20 miler short at 13.1 because i could not bear any weight on it…turns out its a stress fracture just above the ankle… I've been in a boot all week and the dr says 2 more before i can try any weight bearing activity i.e. running… Im figuring on going into the swim school and testing the ankle in two weeks with a short easy 1/2 miler…  

The martian marathon on the 18th is out but i do feel like my running gains were huge so Im a little nervous i might loose some…

  • Oooooffff. You gotta rest it, but you could probably pool run very soon. Worth checking on that. Your fitness is there but keeping vs losing it really isn't an issue here as the fracture is the limiter. Let me know what doc says re alternative options.
