Tony Puckett Micro Thread

I have been on the Get Faster Plan. This week starting 4-06-15, I start the HIM beginner plan at week 12, which has fitness tests. I did fitness tests last week in the Get Faster Plan. Are there other workouts I could do this week instead of the fitness tests, which look to be the same as what I did last week? Thanks. Tony

  • Tony, sure! We recommend you us drop down to view week 11 for this week, then it'll go to Week 13 automatically. First week is more about managing the adjustment to new schedule and times vs high performance.
  • Thanks. I am doing the Monday-Thursday schedule for week 11. I signed up for a local 50-mile ride on Saturday so the day off Friday will provide rest.
  • Lucky you with the ride!
  • Ride was fun, even with rain for the last two miles. Question this week is about the pros and cons of flipping the Saturday and Sunday workouts. My training partner who is not on EN wants to do long rides on Sunday's, which was our training pattern last year. I would prefer to stick with my EN plan. But I want to get your feedback on flipping the workouts so I can think it through. Thanks.
  • Tony how about you split the diference? Like two weekends a month is your way, two is his way?

Swapping workouts like 1x on a weekend is no biggie...forever having long rides on Sunday is different and we'd need to edit the plan or just workout expectations.

It's not the end of the world, by any means, you just don't get to have that "perfect" long ride as we have written. Let me know what you to decide or if you need a mediator out there!!! image
  • Thanks for the advice on swapping weekend rights. With five weekends left before Kansas HIM, we can make it work.
I did my first race rehearsal for the bike yesterday. I want to get your input on my data.
Total time: 2:59:39. Total miles: 54:21. Average speed: 18.1 mph. Ave HR: 129. Ave cadence: 80.
I don't use power yet. My Z3 on the bike is 132-139. I want to ride a 3 hour bike segment
Weather was great. High 60's. Light wind. Flat course.

  • You are right there. If you plan on aero helmet, race wheels etc you'll gain even more time, what with the draft off the other racers, etc.

More importantly you need to note your HR and make sure you get it down quickly at the start of the bike...to match what you saw in the Race Sim.

That and between now and the race we have to make sire your nutrition is bullet proof!
